2022 Beach Doubles Spring League Registration
League Dates:
Start: Wednesday, May 25th
Finish: Wednesday, June 29th
Start Time:
All flight 1 matches will begin @ 6:00 pm
All flight 2 matches will begin @ ~7:30 pm
** League will run rain or shine **
Location:
Trillium Center Beach Courts – 101 Crimson Drive, Sherwood Park
Maximum Entries:
18 Beach Doubles Teams
– All teams are required to sign up as a group of 3 athletes
– Athletes do not sign up based on age, so any combination of U13-U18 age and skill is appropriate.
** Teams of 2 may be accepted if approved by PGVC **
Registration Fee:
$75/team
League Format:
Rounds 1-5 – Seeding Round
** Top team in each division will move up a division each week **
** Middle team in each division will stay in their division each week **
** Bottom team in each division will move down a division each week **
Round 6 – Wednesday, June 29th – Playoffs
** Playoffs will consist of a 6 team, best of 3, single-elimination tournament bracket **
** First 2 game point cap will be 21, 3rd game will be 15 (win by 2 points) **

🏆 Prizes will be awarded in each Playoff Division!! 🏆
– Teams will be divided up into Divisions for ladder play during weeks 1-5
– Each Division will be grouped into 3 teams, determined by the previous week’s results
– Each week, teams will play best of 3 matches (21/21/5 points) against their other 2 opponents in the following order:
* 2nd seed vs 3rd seed, 1st seed vs 2nd seed, 1st seed vs 3rd seed *
– 3rd games are to be played only when necessary
– Teams are to switch sides every multiple of 7 points *no re-serve for missing a switch*
– Teams not currently playing must provide a scorekeeper
– Each team must submit their results for each match to the organizer on site
League Rules:
FIVB Beach Volleyball Rules will apply:
- NO overhand passing (setting) on serve receive or free balls – will only be allowed when defending a hard-driven attack
- NO open hand tipping – no fingertips, must play the ball from knuckles or fist
- BLOCKS count as a touch – if a player blocks an attack they may play it again, but their teams next contact must go over the net
- NO SIDE SETTING – When setting over the Net to your opponents, your feet and shoulder must be square to where the ball lands
- NO net touches are allowed
- Crossing under the net is allowed as long as you do not interfere with anyone or the play
- Players/teams are to call faults on themselves – Please re-serve the ball if there is a disagreement with a call
