2024 PGVC Queen of the Beach Volleyball Tournament

Start Time:
All matches will begin @ 8:15 am – Athletes required to Check-in before 8:00 am
** Tournament will run rain or shine **

Location:
Trillium Center Beach Courts – 101 Crimson Drive, Sherwood Park

Tournament Format:
TOURNAMENT DRAW
– Each player will play 1 game of Beach Doubles with every athlete in their current grouping or Tier (Up to 11 games per round)
– Points will be awarded to each partner for games won
– Every point in every game matters!! e.g. If multiple players are tied in points, then their point differential from all previous games in that round will count
– Top 4 players in Pool A, B & C proceed to the Gold Division
– Bottom 4 players in Pool A, B & C proceed to the Silver Division

– The players with the most points during the Competition Round, with the best point differential, will be crowned Queen of the Beach in each Division!

Round 1 – Seeding Round
** Seeding round will consist of one game, capped at 15 **
Round 2 – Queen of the Beach Competition
** Competition round will consist of one game, capped at 15 **

🏆 Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place in each Tier!! 🏆

FIVB Beach Volleyball Rules will apply

  • NO overhand passing (setting) on serve receive or free balls – will only be allowed when defending a hard-driven attack
  • NO open hand tipping – no fingertips, must play the ball from knuckles or fist
  • BLOCKS count as a touch – if a player blocks an attack they may play it again, but their teams next contact must go over the net
  • NO SIDE SETTING – When setting over the Net to your opponents, your feet and shoulders must be square to where the ball lands
  • NO net touches are allowed
  • Crossing under the net is allowed as long as you do not interfere with anyone or the play
  • Players/teams are to call faults on themselves – Please re-serve the ball if there is a disagreement with a call
