Athletes are invited to attend ALL Open Gyms for the age group they’ve registered for on the form!
Due to limited space athletes can only attend the Open Gym for the age group registered. **Please inform coaches if your daughter is eligible for another age group according to the 2023 Age Categories chart at the bottom of this page**

ALL athletes must register online as a 2023 Youth Development Player – Tryout ($19.70 + service fees) through the ‘Member Registration Portal for Volleyball Alberta Membership’ Sportlomo website.

Due to injury liability, registration with Volleyball Alberta/Volleyball Canada will be required prior to the athlete being allowed to participate in any tryouts or open gyms. If you have done this before, your previous Volleyball Alberta/Volleyball Canada membership was only valid until August 31, 2022, and a 2023 Youth Development Player – Tryout renewal is required:

- For Volleyball Alberta Zone/Region, choose Region 5 – Blackgold/Yellowhead

13U	Athletes born from September 1, 2009 to Dec 31 2010 (16 months)*
14U	Athletes born from September 1, 2008 to Dec 31, 2009 (16 months)
15U	Athletes born from September 1, 2007 to Dec 31 2008 (16 months)
16U	Athletes born from September 1, 2006 to Dec 31 2007 (16 months)
17U	Athletes born from September 1, 2005 to Dec 31 2006 (16 months)
18U	Athletes born from September 1, 2004 to Dec 31, 2005 (16 months)**

Please note the following:

* U13 Athletes need to be a minimum of 10 years of age

** U18 Athletes born in 2004 who are outside this window but are in their FIRST YEAR of Grade 12 may apply for an exemption.

For 2021 Club Nationals, 18U Age Category ONLY:

A team roster for the 18U category can include 2 athletes born from Jan 1-August 31, 2004, with the following restriction:

Athletes are NOT permitted to be part of any USport, CCAA, or other Post-Secondary volleyball programs for the current season (Sept 2022-May 2023)
