Lauryn Draker – 14U Risselada – Assistant Coach
Lauryn grew up in Sherwood Park, where she developed a love for sports, community, family and school. Lauryn grew up playing volleyball, basketball, handball, soccer, swimming and so much more as she truly found a passion in sport. Lauryn has played 11 years of volleyball; through junior high at FR. Haythorne and continuing through to Bev Facey High School. Developing her game and finding love in the sport, as a setter and libero, which accelerated her volleyball career into many club seasons, and soon into committing to a university team.
Lauryn played for 5 years in the ACAC on the Kings University Women’s Volleyball Team as a libero and defensive specialist, where she graduated with a Social Science degree, with a minor in Kinesiology. She continued her academics, and is now completing her After Education Degree, in Elementary Education and aspiring to become a teacher.
Lauryn grew in her leadership during her time at the Kings University where she was team captain and was honoured to receive the Leadership Award for two consecutive years. She is known to be energetic, optimistic, positive and strives to create a space where everyone feels welcome.
Throughout her years in volleyball, Lauryn has grown as a leader and coach through playing the game, coaching kids volleyball camps and reffing. She is super excited to start her journey with Park as she is looking forward to inspiring the next generation, lots of fun, sharing her knowledge and helping athletes develop their passion for the sport!
